Our Mission Statement

The Women's Fund promotes positive change in the lives of Fond du Lac area women and girls through grants to local 501(c)3 organizations for programs consistent with its mission; engages women in philanthropy; and creates community understanding of the strengths and challenges of Fond du Lac women and girls.

Our History

The Fond du Lac Area Women's Fund gives grants to community programs that are making a difference in the lives of women and girls in our community; educates our community about issues affecting women; and raises philanthropic dollars to further that work.  A group of local women started the Women's Fund in 2004.

Almost $125,000 in Women's Fund grants to local nonprofits were at work by the end of 2015, supporting programs that benefit women or girls in our funding priority areas: education; leadership development; financial self-sufficiency; or safety, dignity, and freedom from violence.

Our educational programs initiated community conversation about  issues affecting women and girls. Programs have included Breakfast with the Author, Melissa Atkins Wardy, author of "Redefining Girly," and a showing of the documentary "Miss Representation," which showed how media portrayals of women limit their leadership options and negatively affect young girls.

We became a 501(c)3 charitable and educational organization during 2013, allowing us to expand programming and fundraising opportunities.

The Fond du Lac Area Foundation, where we began, continues to manage the Women's Fund endowment. Its annual income helps support the Women's Fund mission.
